Softball Game Preview: Plum Mustangs vs. Penn Hills Indians

Plum has gone 9-1 against Penn Hills recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Mustangs will challenge the Indians at 4:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Plum is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Shaler Area just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 14-1 to the Titans. The game marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Bella Tavella was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Penn Hills fell victim to Shaler Area and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Titans, falling 15-0. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Penn Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Plum, the loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 8-2.

Penn Hills' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Plum has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Penn Hills, though, as they've been averaging 10.4 hits. Given Plum's sizable advantage in that area, the Indians will need to find a way to close that gap.
