Basketball Game Preview: Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles vs. Centennial Cougars

The Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Centennial Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Shelbyville Central will be strutting in after a win while Centennial will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Shelbyville Central finally turned things around against Summit on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Spartans 44-41. The win was all the more spectacular given the Golden Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Spartans are ranked 26th).

Meanwhile, Centennial came up short against Father Ryan on Thursday, falling 61-39. The match marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Shelbyville Central's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Shelbyville Central suffered a grim 73-47 defeat to Centennial in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Shelbyville Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
