Volleyball Recap: Tampa Prep Starts Season with Victory Against Land O' Lakes + How To Watch

Tampa Prep had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Land O' Lakes Gators with a sharp 3-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Terrapins also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2020.

Tampa Prep was especially dominant in the first set. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-16, 25-21.

Tampa Prep found their leader in sophomore Sophia Merenda, who had seven digs and five aces.

Tampa Prep was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Land O' Lakes only served six aces.

Land O' Lakes lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Amelia Colon, who had 16 digs and one assist. She has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 22 times she's played.

Land O' Lakes' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tampa Prep will take on Cardinal Mooney at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Land O' Lakes, they will venture away from home to square off against Sunlake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Gators' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
