Softball Recap: Collinsville's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Collinsville came into Friday's match having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Tom Bean Tomcats by a score of 12-7 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their two-run performance the contest before.

The team relied heavily on Tessa Vannoy, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydee Matlock, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Vannoy wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Collinsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for Collinsville: they were averaging 4.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.4.

Collinsville's win bumped their record up to 3-11. As for Tom Bean, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Collinsville will face off against Ector at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tom Bean, they will take on Dodd City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
