Basketball Recap: Cholla Comes Up Short

Cholla was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 24th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Douglas Bulldogs, falling 72-16. The Chargers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-7.

Leading Douglas to victory were Julissa Quijada and Keyra Espinosa. Quijada went 7 for 14 en route to 15 points and seven steals, while Espinosa went 8 of 13 on her way to 16 points and three steals. Espinosa is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Almalydia Gonzalez, who posted 11 points and five boards.

Cholla's loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Douglas, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-3.

Cholla will venture away from home to square off against Rio Rico at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Douglas, they will take on Sabino at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
