Baseball Game Preview: Bluffton Pirates vs. Arlington Red Devils

The Bluffton Pirates are taking a road trip to challenge the Arlington Red Devils at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bluffton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Bluffton took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against North Baltimore as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pirates needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Quinn Eachus was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bluffton is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-9 otherwise. Eachus was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Jebsen, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Nathan Speicher was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Arlington was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They lost 12-2 to McComb.

Arlington's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Bluffton, their record is now 8-10.

Bluffton took their win against Arlington when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
