Recap: Seymour Wildcats vs. Crosby Bulldogs
The Seymour Wildcats pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 75-66 to Crosby. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Wednesday (55), Seymour still had to take the loss.
Seymour's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Joey Carrafiello, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds, and Indrit Peraj who scored 21 points along with three steals. Peraj scored a full 31.8% of Seymour's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Robby Carrafiello, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Seymour were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crosby only racked up 23 assists.
Crosby's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Khani Glenn, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Glenn scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeydan Benjamin, who scored 15 points along with six assists.
This is the second loss in a row for Seymour and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Crosby, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Seymour will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Waterbury Career Academy at 7:00 p.m. Waterbury Career Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully Seymour likes a good challenge. As for Crosby, they will head out on the road to face off against Wolcott at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
