Preview: Fredonia Lynx vs. Williams Vikings

Fredonia is 1-6 against Williams since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Fredonia Lynx will be home for the holidays to greet the Williams Vikings at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fredonia has three straight victories, Williams has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Friday, Fredonia made easy work of Basis and carried off a 36-16 victory. Given Fredonia's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Basis is ranked 276th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Williams was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 52-47 to Red Mesa.

Despite their loss, Williams saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kai Mortensen , who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Mortensen scored a full 31.9% of Williams' points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Braydyn Larimore was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with four steals.

Fredonia's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Williams, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Things could have been worse for Fredonia, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-30 loss to Williams in their previous meeting back in January. Can Fredonia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
