Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Santa Rosa's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Santa Rosa won the last time they faced Logan and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Lions were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Longhorns. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 11 runs or more this season.

Melanie Madera was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Madera was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Angelina Silva was a standout: she scored five runs and stole six bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leah Moncayo, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Santa Rosa hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Santa Rosa has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs over those games. As for Logan, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Rosa will head out to take on McCurdy at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Logan, they are taking a road trip to face off against Tucumcari at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
