Preview: Huntington Red Devils vs. Pollok Central Bulldogs

Huntington and Pollok Central are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Huntington Red Devils will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Pollok Central Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Huntington has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Pollok Central will arrive with five straight wins.

Last Wednesday, Huntington was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Woodville.

Even though Pollok Central has not done well against Central Heights recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Pollok Central walked away with a 43-31 victory over Central Heights. Given Pollok Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while Central Heights is ranked 961st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jake Matthews continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Law Shaver, who scored eight points.

Huntington has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. As for Pollok Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Huntington, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-44 loss to Pollok Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2023.
