Baseball Recap: Torrance Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

Torrance barely beat West the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tartars' pitchers stepped up to hand the Warriors a 6-0 shutout on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Tartars have posted against the Warriors since March 5, 2022.

Sam Cruz tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on River Martinez, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jacob Faamasino was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Torrance is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for West, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.

Torrance will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
