Softball Recap: Sachem East Comes Up Short

Sachem East lost against Connetquot back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Sachem East fell just short of Connetquot by a score of 3-2. Sachem East has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Angelina Cornand spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Xiomara Llerena made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Sachem East's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Connetquot, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Sachem East is set to face off against their familiar foe Ward Melville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Connetquot will take on rival Bay Shore at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
