Basketball Game Preview: Morgan City Tigers vs. Westgate Tigers

The Morgan City Tigers will head out to take on the Westgate Tigers at 6:35 p.m. on Monday.

Morgan City is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2024 on Friday. They took a blow against Vandebilt Catholic, falling 73-44. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Terriers are ranked 30th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westgate). Everything went their way against Rayne on Friday as Westgate made off with an 81-61 victory. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Westgate's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 15-10. As for Morgan City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season.

Morgan City came up short against Westgate when the teams last played back in December of 2019, falling 62-57. Can Morgan City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
