Softball Recap: Woodruff Wolverines vs. Chapman Panthers
Woodruff extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 12-10 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Chapman Panthers. Surprisingly, this marked the Wolverines' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
As for Chapman, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.
For Chapman's part, Alexis Floyd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits. Floyd has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kenslie Edwards was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Krisylyn Wilder, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
As of now, neither Woodruff nor Chapman have any future games scheduled.
