Softball Recap: Unaka Comes Up Short

Unaka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cloudland Highlanders. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, with their most recent defeat being a 5-4 loss on Monday.

Katlyn Dugger was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Mollie Buckles was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Unaka's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Cloudland, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Highlanders beat Unaka by a score of 5-4 later that day.
