Baseball Recap: West Ottawa Panthers vs. Jenison Wildcats

Solomon Wegmeyer was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Wegmeyer wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Gramek, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

This is the second loss in a row for West Ottawa and nudges their season record down to 24-15. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Jenison, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-9-1 record this season.
