Volleyball Recap: Dunnellon Takes a Loss

The Dunnellon Tigers lost 3-0 to the Leesburg Yellow Jackets on Tuesday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dunnellon took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-11, 25-16.

Francesca Capobianco paced Dunnellon's offense, picking up two kills. Capobianco got some help from Aubree Smith and her four assists. Capobianco also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Myah Roof, racking up two apiece.

Leesburg was led to victory by Elizabeth Snyder and Kaleigha Crews. Snyder had five digs and five aces, while Crews had five kills, five aces, three digs, and one block. The dominant performance also gave Snyder a new career-high in assists (four).

Dunnellon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Leesburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dunnellon will square off against North Marion at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Leesburg, they will take on Real Life Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
