Softball Recap: Paint Valley Comes Up Short

Paint Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 8-3 to the Adena Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bearcats of the 7-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Paint Valley saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Stauffer, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was Stauffer's first of the season. Another was Lydia Hamilton, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Paint Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Adena, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Paint Valley is set to square off against their familiar foe Huntington at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Adena will challenge rival Piketon at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 3.4, the Redstreaks 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
