Softball Recap: Chowchilla Wins Going Away Against Minarets

Chowchilla won the last time they faced Minarets and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tribe blew past the Mustangs 19-7. The Tribe might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by ten runs or more this season.

Lexyss Sabin made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylee Vlot, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, five RBI, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Avery Tomlinson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Chowchilla was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. They are 9-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Chowchilla has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Minarets, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Chowchilla wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-3 loss against Liberty on the 30th. Hopefully Minarets paid attention to the Tribe's match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Tribe at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
