Volleyball Recap: Kate Fricke and Chloe Nelson Secure Win for Woodland

Woodland waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Yuba City Honkers. This was payback for the Wolves, who suffered a 2-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Woodland got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 21-25, 25-21, 15-25, 15-9.

Leading Woodland to victory were Chloe Nelson and Kate Fricke. Nelson had 27 digs and four aces, while Fricke had 17 digs, 13 kills, and one block. With that strong performance, Nelson is now averaging an impressive 14 digs per game.

They weren't the only good server: Woodland was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in three consecutive games.

Woodland's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Yuba City, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Coincidentally, Woodland and Yuba City will both be playing Pioneer the next time they take the court. The Honkers will host the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wolves will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
