Basketball Recap: Devion Murray's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Overton over Memphis East

Overton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 73-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Memphis East Mustangs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (55), the Wolverines still had to take the loss.

Overton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Devion Murray, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Murray a new career-high in points. Kevin Gladney was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Overton's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Memphis East, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7.

Overton has already played their next match (against Kingsbury), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Memphis East will venture away from home to take on Whitehaven at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Whitehaven will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Memphis East surely won't give up without a fight.
