Softball Game Preview: The Villages Charter Buffalo vs. Lake Weir Hurricanes

The Villages Charter Buffalo are taking a road trip to challenge the Lake Weir Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Villages Charter's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Lake Weir's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The Villages Charter is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Forest on Monday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 2-1.

Haylee Nobles was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, The Villages Charter saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexy Sanchez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Sanchez has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, Lake Weir was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Sumter.

Allison Eason was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Beth Levy also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Lake Weir's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for The Villages Charter, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6.

Everything went The Villages Charter's way against Lake Weir in their previous matchup back in February, as The Villages Charter made off with an 8-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for The Villages Charter since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
