Volleyball Recap: Morgan Township Starts Season with Win Against Michigan City

Morgan Township had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Michigan City Wolves. This was payback for the Cherokees, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Morgan Township was especially dominant in the second set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-10, 25-18.

Morgan Township's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lexi Rippe led the charge by getting nine digs and four assists. Those four assists gave Rippe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maria Ising, who had four aces.

Morgan Township was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 17 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Morgan Township didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Wheeler on the 18th. As for Michigan City, they have also already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Westville on the 19th.
