Basketball Game Preview: Bozeman Bucks vs. Freeport Bulldogs

The Bozeman Bucks will head out to challenge the Freeport Bulldogs at 1:15 p.m. on Monday. Bozeman has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

On Friday, Bozeman strolled past Rocky Bayou Christian with points to spare, taking the game 69-53.

Meanwhile, Freeport came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 74-57 victory over the Hoboes. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while the Hoboes are ranked 720th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bozeman better keep an eye on Julius Miles. He was instrumental in Freeport's win, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 17 boards. Miles' evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dameyan Martin, who posted 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Freeport smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Freeport has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Bozeman, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-7.

Bozeman beat Freeport 54-46 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Miles, who went 8 of 19 on his way to 25 points and seven boards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Bozeman still be able to contain Miles? There's only one way to find out.
