Basketball Recap: Lewiston Takes a Loss

Lewiston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 61-30 loss at the hands of the Sacred Heart Irish. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Irish are ranked 43rd).

Despite the loss, Lewiston saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Justice Currie posted 14 points. That's the most points Currie has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Delanye Currie, who had seven points.

Lewiston's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Sacred Heart, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-4.

While Lewiston had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
