Basketball Recap: Plainfield Victorious

After losing to Lyman Memorial the last time they met, Plainfield decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Plainfield Panthers secured a 53-48 W over the Lyman Memorial Bulldogs on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Lyman Memorial lost, don't look at Kevin Botticello. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 boards. Botticello is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last 12 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Conor Hawkins, who posted ten points.

Plainfield picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Lyman Memorial, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Plainfield Panthers take on the Wheeler Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lyman Memorial, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Windham at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Windham is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.6 points per game this season.
