Baseball Game Preview: Cathedral Catholic Dons vs. Point Loma Pointers

For the second straight game, Cathedral Catholic will face off against Point Loma. The Dons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pointers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cathedral Catholic 3.7, Point Loma 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Point Loma will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Cathedral Catholic extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Dons came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Pointers. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 25, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Trey Gudoy was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Harrington, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cathedral Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Cathedral Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Point Loma, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-10-1.
