Football Recap: Somerville Piles Up the Points Against Snook

Somerville got themselves on the board against Snook on Friday, but Snook never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 55-0 victory over the Bluejays. That 55 point margin sets a new team best for the Yeguas this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Somerville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ja'Keith Daniels, who rushed for 98 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, and also picked up 131 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Daniels' longest reception was for an impressive 66 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total. Andrew Espinoza was another key signal caller, throwing for 240 yards and four TDs on only 13 passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Somerville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 205 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Somerville's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.7 points over those games. As for Snook, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Somerville and Snook will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time the Yeguas see the field they'll take on Iola at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. As for Snook, their break will end when they face Burton at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
