Softball Recap: College Place Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

While College Place's victory against Kiona-Benton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hawks narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bears 13-11. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Adrienne Berube and Payton Moore did most of the damage at the plate: Berube got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Moore went 2-for-5 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Moore a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kenadie Schreindl, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

College Place pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Kiona-Benton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bears beat College Place by a score of 13-5 later that day.
