Football Game Preview: Stony Point Tigers vs. Round Rock Westwood Warriors

Stony Point has gone 8-2 against Round Rock Westwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Tigers will take on the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Stony Point has given up an average of 31.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Stony Point is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Hutto on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Tigers came up short against the Hippos, falling 49-29. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 306th, while the Hippos are ranked 135th).

Stony Point's loss came about despite a quality game from Kinnick Kalbus, who threw for 134 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 11-for-11 passing, and also rushed for 35 yards. Olamide Aroworade also helped with two scores in total.

Even if they lost, Stony Point's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Jeremiah Barbee was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last four times he's played.

Meanwhile, Round Rock Westwood was beaten by Round Rock 42-7 on Friday. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Dragons recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Stony Point's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Round Rock Westwood, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Stony Point took their victory against Round Rock Westwood when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 52-27 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
