Basketball Recap: East Clarendon Comes Up Short

With East Clarendon's effective field goal percentage at 100% and Kingstree's at 21% on Friday, the final result was to be expected on Friday. The East Clarendon Wolverines fell 42-31 to the Kingstree Blazers. The Wolverines just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

When it comes to explaining why East Clarendon lost, don't look at Kierstin Woods. Despite the final result, she made all 5 shots she took racking up 11 points. Cherish Cochran was another key player, putting up seven points.

Naydia Shaw was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 11 boards for Kingstree. That makes it three consecutive games in which Shaw has scored at least a third of Kingstree's points. Another player making a difference was Jaiden McKnight, who posted no points in addition to five blocks and four steals.

East Clarendon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Kingstree, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

East Clarendon has already played their next matchup, a 44-38 win against Mullins on the 4th. As for Kingstree, they will head out on the road to take on Marion at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marion will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Kingstree surely won't give up without a fight.
