Baseball Recap: Liberty Gets the Win

It was a Battle of the Birds when Liberty faced off against PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central on Saturday. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bluejays, sneaking past 5-4. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 12-9 victory the Bluejays walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Evan Sims spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Jack Sparrow was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Reed Sparrow was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Liberty pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6-1.

Liberty didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Rushville-Industry on the 23rd. As for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-7 victory against New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly on the 22nd.
