Softball Recap: Carroll Beats Taylor for Their Fifth Straight Win

Carroll hadn't done well against Taylor recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Titans. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by eight runs or more this season.

Carroll let Madi Isley and Olivia Schroder run wild. Isley went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Schroder got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave Schroder a new career-high. Bree Hoke also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Carroll hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Taylor struck out nine times.

The victory (which was Carroll's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.6 runs over those games. As for Taylor, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Coincidentally, Carroll and Taylor will both be playing Clinton Prairie the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Gophers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Titans will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
