Softball Game Preview: Leland Chargers vs. Ann Sobrato Bulldogs

The Leland Chargers will face off against the Ann Sobrato Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leland will be strutting in after a win while Ann Sobrato will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Leland turned things around against Santa Teresa last Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Saints 9-8.

The team relied heavily on Sarah Baggott, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Irene Kim, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Ann Sobrato and Branham meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Bulldogs fell 4-1 to the Bruins.

Ann Sobrato saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Nava, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Leland's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Ann Sobrato, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Leland skirted past Ann Sobrato 6-4 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
