Softball Recap: St. Joseph's Catholic Comes Up Short

St. Joseph's Catholic lost against Brashier Middle College Charter on Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Knights fell 13-8 to the Bengal. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Addie Murphy put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Stella Nash was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Abby Green was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

St. Joseph's Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Brashier Middle College Charter, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph's Catholic will take on Powdersville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brashier Middle College Charter, they will challenge Landrum at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
