Basketball Recap: Fairfax's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Wednesday

After losing to Hamilton the last time they met, Fairfax decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Fairfax Lions came out on top against the Hamilton Yankees by a score of 64-53 on Wednesday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Yankees are ranked 679th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Hamilton lost, don't look at Michael Gooden. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Thierry, who posted nine points and five boards.

Fairfax's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Hamilton, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-12.

Fairfax has already played their next match, a 74-41 win against Los Angeles CES on the 24th. As for Hamilton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 85-36 loss against Westchester on the 24th.
