Payson and Snowflake are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Longhorns will head out on the road to square off against the Lobos at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Payson will be strutting in after a win while Snowflake will be coming in after a defeat.

Payson will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against ALA - Ironwood on Monday. The Longhorns were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Warriors. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Snowflake was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They came up short against Winslow, falling 8-2.

Snowflake saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brynlee Bryant, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Payson's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Snowflake, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.

Payson might still be hurting after the 19-6 defeat they got from Snowflake in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Longhorns avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
