Basketball Recap: Tytionna Draggs Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

Mitchell County hadn't done well against Early County recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Mitchell County Eagles managed a 40-34 victory over the Early County Bobcats. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Bobcats back in November of 2024, they had to take a 45-40 loss.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mitchell County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tytionna Draggs, who went 6 of 7 en route to 11 points. Draggs is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Sariyah Chester was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Nakevia Brown and Ty'Jerrica Russell certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Brown went 6 for 14 on her way to 16 points and seven boards, while Russell dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Mitchell County's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-9. As for Early County, their record now sits at 10-4.

Mitchell County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 82-25 victory against Quitman County on the 11th. Early County has also already played their next game, a 39-37 defeat against Calhoun County on the 11th.
