Football Game Preview: Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) vs. Somerset Bulldogs

The Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) will challenge the Somerset Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Uvalde is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Uvalde's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Fredericksburg on Friday. They had to suffer through a 31-0 loss at the hands of the Billies. The game marked the first time this season in which the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Somerset). They claimed a resounding 48-13 victory over Jourdanton. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Bulldogs with their most commanding win of the season.

Somerset's win came from a few key players Uvalde will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Malakai Iverson, who picked up 131 receiving yards and three scores. His receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 102 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Flores, who threw for 209 yards and three TDs.

The win made it two in a row for Somerset and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.0 points over those games. As for Uvalde, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Uvalde suffered a grim 35-15 defeat to Somerset in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Flores, who threw for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also rushed for 70 yards on only six carries. Now that the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
