Volleyball Recap: Elianna Bancroft's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Skyline over Westwood

After flying high against Mesa on Thursday, Skyline came back down to earth. The Coyotes took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westwood Warriors on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 two weeks ago.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-12, 18-25, 25-17.

Skyline's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elianna Bancroft, who had 11 digs and two blocks. Bancroft is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last 15 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Clara Lopez, who had 13 kills, four digs, three blocks, and two aces.

Skyline has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-17 record this season. As for Westwood, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-16.

Skyline has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Dobson on the 29th. As for Westwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Red Mountain on the 29th.
