Softball Recap: Attica Comes Up Short

Attica extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-13 in the process. They came up short against the Riverton Parke Panthers, falling 15-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 on Saturday.

Attica saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Beck, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Riverton Parke, they pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games.

On Riverton Parke's side, Jayleigh Inman and Reese Simmons made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Inman tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Simmons pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Inman has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Inman went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Simmons went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashlyn Brenton, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacee Stonebraker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.
