Baseball Recap: Hudson Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Hudson had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Sun Prairie East on Saturday. The Raiders blew past the Cardinals 12-3. Considering the Raiders have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Myles Howe tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jace Mataczynski and Sam Manchester did most of the damage at the plate: Mataczynski went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Manchester went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Spencer Bullis also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Hudson is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Sun Prairie East, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-3.

Coming up, Hudson will challenge New Richmond at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Sun Prairie East, they will square off against Middleton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Middleton will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Sun Prairie East surely won't give up without a fight.
