Softball Recap: Alhambra Gets the Win

Alhambra won the last time they faced North and things went their way on Thursday too. The Lions came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 6-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Aliyah Carranza made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lillyana Reyes, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Natalia Cervantes was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.

Alhambra's record now sits at 9-6. As for North, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Coincidentally, Alhambra and North will both be playing McClintock the next time they take the field. The Lions will head out to face the Chargers at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, while the Mustangs will host them at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
