Basketball Game Preview: Live Oak Classical Falcons vs. McGregor Bulldogs

The Live Oak Classical Falcons just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the McGregor Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Live Oak Classical has 18 straight victories, McGregor has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Live Oak Classical is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing St. Joseph Catholic: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Falcons blew the Eagles out of the water with a 55-17 final score. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 29 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Live Oak Classical to victory, but perhaps none more so than Claire Cordell, who posted nine points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals. Cordell is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Ashlyn Helton was another key player, putting up seven points and ten steals.

Meanwhile, McGregor played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 60-16 defeat at the hands of Frost. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-4.

McGregor's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Live Oak Classical, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Live Oak Classical and McGregor were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, but Live Oak Classical came up empty-handed after a 37-36 defeat.
