3A Northern recap October 29, 2013
Holy Family added to the longest winning streak in 3A Northern this week by beating Centaurus, 20-9. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Tigers.
Frederick took down Denver North 37-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mitchell Held ran for 148 yards during the win.
Joe Ramey was a force in the backfield as Erie bested Thomas Jefferson.
Joe Lopez made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Warriors topped the Vikings. The 6-foot-1 senior nabbed 1 interception, forced 1 fumble, recorded 1 fumble and grabbed 2 sacks.
Ramey provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Tigers defeated the Spartans. Ramey's key target this week was Ramey, who caught 3 passes for 71 yards.
Ryan True and Ramey gave Erie a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. True threw for 114 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Ramey ran for 225 yards. Teammate Christian Mickey added to the ground attack by rushing for 130 yards.
Holy Family's David Sommers and Matthew Erb led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Sommers has thrown for 1,201 yards this season, while Erb has 35 catches for 616 yards. Larry Gartrell's team's Ramey leads the league in rushing yards with 1,049.
At the moment, the Warriors are in fourth, while the Tigers are in third.
