Gallia Academy and Fairland are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Blue Devils will challenge the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Gallia Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Gallia Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Chesapeake with a sharp 11-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Chloe Bennett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Angel, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. Taylor Wilcoxen was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs and two doubles.
Gallia Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 8-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Fairland lost 13-4 to South Point on Friday. The Dragons haven't had much luck with the Pointers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Maddie Cornwell and Aubree Cyrus did some serious damage despite the final result: Cornwell went 3-for-4 with one run and one double, while Cyrus went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Fairland's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Gallia Academy, their record is now 9-11.
Everything went Gallia Academy's way against Fairland when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Gallia Academy made off with a 17-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
