Baseball Game Preview: Ironton Fighting Tigers vs. Boyd County Lions

The Ironton Fighting Tigers will face off against the Boyd County Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

On Monday, Ironton earned a 7-2 win over Rock Hill.

Braydon Baker and Ian Ginger were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Baker pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ginger didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Baker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Baker went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Ginger went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Carter Bridges was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tanner Kleinman, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Boyd County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Mercer County on Saturday. The Lions put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Ironton pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Boyd County, their win bumped their record up to 24-5.
