Basketball Recap: Ballantyne Ridge Comes Up Short

Ballantyne Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 49-22 loss at the hands of the Myers Park Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 509th in North Carolina, while the Mustangs are ranked 177th in North Carolina).

Ballantyne Ridge lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kaiya Dodson, who posted nine points.

Myers Park found their leader in sophomore Amani Barner, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 17 points and five boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Barner has scored at least a third of Myers Park's points. Summer Thomason was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Ballantyne Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 4-21. As for Myers Park, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-12.

Ballantyne Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Myers Park, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-48 loss against South Mecklenburg on the 20th.
