Basketball Recap: Malone Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Malone fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Marianna on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 74-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marianna Bulldogs. The Tigers have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

When it comes to explaining why Malone lost, don't look at Jackson Welch. Despite the final result, he posted 28 points and five boards. Welch has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Hoke Harkrider was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

Leading Marianna to victory were Nykavian Bradley and Mason Mobley. Bradley dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten boards, while Mobley went 9 for 15 en route to 26 points. The dominant performance gave Bradley a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Bowen Barber, who had seven points.

Malone's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-7. As for Marianna, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.

Malone has already played their next game, a 45-40 victory against Altha on the 29th. As for Marianna, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-49 win against Crossroad Academy on the 29th.
