Softball Recap: Pulaski County Comes Up Short

Pulaski County dropped their record down to 7-6 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 16-1 to the Salem Spartans. The matchup marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Pulaski County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexas Dishon, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Salem, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

On Salem's side, Cora Robinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Robinson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Cora Sparger was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Crosswhite, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Pulaski County will be playing at home against Cave Spring at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Salem, they will face off against Northside at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
